Conversations with Flowers

EXPLORE PAINTINGS

I create representational oil paintings rooted in quiet observation of the garden, following flowers and the insects and pollinators that visit them. Each composition is built one stem at a time allowing narrative to emerge as I paint flowers throughout their life cycle.

Alongside my floral work, I've spent more than twenty years studying animal skulls and bones from life. These drawings and paintings look beyond documentation, contemplating the stories contained within the bones—a slow conversation between artist and subject. My signature bone palette uses just three unique colors to recreate the nuanced color of naturally aged bone.

  • detailed, realistic drawing of a leopard skull from a front facing perspective in white chalk and charcoal on gray card stock. The long canines can be seen hanging down, one is broken.

    Skulls & Bones

Studies in form, structure, and time—contemplating the stories contained within each bone and skull.
